Everything else — advocacy, education, research, and patient support — depends on having a real, functioning professional community with the scale, credibility, and organizational infrastructure to act collectively.
AJMA's membership spans the full breadth of Jewish healthcare: physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, pharmacists, allied health workers, administrators, researchers, faculty, and students across every career stage.

Mentorship & Professional Development
Mentorship is a core part of AJMA’s chapter model.
By formalizing and expanding mentorship opportunities across disciplines and career stages, AJMA is helping create a stronger pipeline for future generations of Jewish healthcare professionals.
The goal is simple: students and early-career professionals entering healthcare today should have access to the mentors, networks, and institutional support that many previous generations lacked.
The American Jewish Medical Association (AJMA) is a membership-based organization committed to building a strong, engaged community of Jewish healthcare professionals, students, and allies. AJMA provides its members and partners with opportunities to share expertise, advance education, engage in meaningful dialogue, and contribute to the organization’s mission. To ensure consistency, fairness, and mutual commitment to our community, AJMA requires individuals who participate in or benefit from AJMA-sponsored programming, platforms, and promotional opportunities to be members of the organization.
All individuals who are featured, speaking, presenting, lecturing, authoring content, or otherwise being promoted through AJMA’s platforms must be current AJMA members in good standing.
This requirement applies to, but is not limited to:

Webinars and virtual programs: Speakers, panelists, moderators, lecturers, and presenters participating in AJMA-hosted or co-hosted programs.

In-person events: Individuals featured as speakers, panelists, moderators, or presenters at AJMA-sponsored or co-sponsored events.

Articles and publications: Individuals authoring articles, opinion pieces, educational materials, or other content published, distributed, or promoted through AJMA channels.

Educational programming: Individuals delivering lectures, presentations, training sessions, or other educational content through AJMA.

Promotional opportunities: Individuals whose professional work, presentations, publications, programs, or other activities are featured or promoted through AJMA’s website, newsletters, email communications, social media, or other channels.
Membership Expectations
Individuals must have an active AJMA membership prior to their participation in a program or the publication or promotion of their content. Individuals who are not currently members will be invited to join AJMA before their participation or promotional opportunity is confirmed. Membership does not guarantee an opportunity to speak, publish, or be promoted by AJMA. All programming and content remain subject to AJMA’s editorial discretion, professional standards, and alignment with its mission.
Exceptions
AJMA recognizes that certain collaborations, institutional partnerships, and special circumstances may warrant exceptions to this policy. Exceptions may be approved by the Chief Executive Officer or their designee on a case-by-case basis, particularly when participation serves a significant educational, advocacy, or strategic purpose for the organization.
In Good Standing
For purposes of this guideline, a member in good standing is an individual who:

Maintains an active AJMA membership and is current on all applicable membership dues.

Conducts themselves in a manner consistent with AJMA’s mission, Jewish values, and commitment to professional integrity, respectful engagement, and patient-first healthcare.

Conducts themselves in a manner consistent with AJMA’s mission, values, and commitment to professional integrity, respectful engagement, and patient-first healthcare.

Respecting AJMA’s commitment to Jewish identity, solidarity, and support for Israel.

Respects AJMA’s organizational independence, governance processes, and established policies, including decisions regarding programming, partnerships, and use of AJMA’s name and platforms.

Is not subject to suspension, termination, or restrictions on membership privileges.
AJMA reserves the right to determine eligibility for participation in its programs, publications, and promotional activities. Membership does not confer an automatic right to speak, publish, represent, or receive promotional support from AJMA. AJMA may decline or discontinue participation or promotion when an individual’s conduct, activities, or proposed content are inconsistent with the organization’s mission, professional standards, or organizational interests. Such decisions will be made in good faith, based on relevant circumstances, and will not be based solely on an individual’s expression of differing opinions or good-faith disagreement with AJMA leadership or policies.
Implementation
This policy applies to all new programming, content submissions, and promotional requests following its effective publishing date. AJMA staff, volunteer leaders, and program organizers are responsible for communicating the membership requirement to prospective participants and confirming membership status before finalizing participation or promotion.
AJMA’s strength comes from its members. By asking those who contribute to and benefit from our platforms to join the organization, we reinforce a shared commitment to building a strong, connected, and sustainable community.
