The Panel


Yael Halaas, MD
Yael Halaas, MD

Dr. Halaas is the founder and president of the American Jewish Medical Association. She is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and Chairperson for the Emerging Trends Committee for the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. She's been published in peer-reviewed journals and is an international speaker and media personality.










Steven Roth, MD
Steven Roth, MD

Dr. Roth is the Michael Reese Professor of Anesthesiology at University of Illinois College of Medicine, and Vice Head in Anesthesiology of Research and Faculty Affairs. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago. Dr. Roth received over $15M in NIH and foundation funding over his career. Dr. Roth has led studies on antisemitism in medicine and has published several manuscripts and editorials in this area within the past year. He is the recipient of the 2025 Shine A Light Foundation University Faculty Award for work and leadership in combating antisemitism, and funding for his research on antisemitism in healthcare from the University of Chicago Faculty Emeriti Foundation.







Eve Feinberg, MD
Eve Feinberg, MD

Dr. Feinberg is a Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and serves as the REI Fellowship Program Director and the Medical Director for Northwestern Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine. She is an Editor for Fertility and Sterility and the creator and co-host of Fertility and Sterility podcast. Dr. Feinberg currently serves on the National Medical Committee for Planned Parenthood and on the Executive Board of American Society for Reproductive Medicine as a Director-at-Large and chair of the publications committee. Dr. Feinberg is also the founder and president of the Chicago Coalition for Family Building, a not-for-profit that awards financial grants for fertility treatment and adoption.







Rom Brown
Rom Brown

Rom is the president of the Northwestern Jewish Medical Students Association. He is from Hod-Hasharon, Israel. An IDF veteran and former Northwestern Men's Soccer Captain, Rom is a first-year medical student at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine.












Peggy Shapiro
Peggy Shapiro

Peggy Shapiro is the Director of Policy and Outreach with StandWithUs. She is the author of an antisemitism training module for healthcare institutions. Peggy was one of the founding members and past president of The Association of Children of Holocaust Survivors in Chicago as well as a founder of the International Second-Generation Association. She was a past Executive Director of StandWithUs Midwest, followed by National Director of Special Projects.
